Well i was diagnosed in December 2005 after doctors believing i had meningitis. I was sent for test's and brain scans and last was my first lumber puncture. This would be the first of many that i cried and sworn at doctors, I'm not easy to preform on. Any way after this was dun the next day i was to learn that i had the condition intracranial hypertension. Thought's were never heard of it please explain.... basically i produce too much csf fluid and my body isn't able to drain it away and thus causing a build up around the brain and causing many problems.
I went home and was waiting to see my neuro consultant and the day we met he said i would never have it again it was just a one time thing. How wrong was he to turn out, I was back in again i couldn't say how long after and had to have my pressure drained once again. After seeing the consultant again he swore it was just a blip and would go away. Over the years it came once or twice and I had my little boy in 2007 with no problems and things were going great.
That was till we hit 2010 things got really bad, i was in and out hospital and being lumbered every 2-3 mnths i been put on many different drugs by now to help and finally my consultant said that i was a problem case. start of 2011 and i was having lumbers 2-3 weeks apart and finally got the news i wanted to hear, I would be refered to a different specialist and talks of a shunt have been in place i'm just hoping that they will do it and i can try see if this help's.
Life has become hard and i'm missing out days with my boy all because my head and this condition. I write this to tell my story and how thou I may look normal each day to the outside world there is a troubling and difficult condition to live with inside the person I am.
