Sigh... so just got home this afternoon after being admitted Friday with stomach discomfort and a really sore head more so in the area were they performed my surgery. Well Bournemouth didn't exactly know what to do so under the advice of Southampton they did blood and urine tests to check for infection apparently one came back with mild infection but nothing was ever said about this again. I was then taken to ct were i had my brain scan no idea how that came out. At 4am was rudely woken to go down for x-ray i assume to see placement of my shunt thou they didn't take a picture of the whole thing.
Next day they performed a lumber puncture ok i thought can do this got bit sedation and had so many b4 knew what was coming omg how wrong was i! The stupid doctor left her stethoscope round her neck and course lent in to drain my fluid and hit the needle in my back! needless to say i screamed and after that cried my eyes out for the rest of the drain which then had to b4 performed a second time as we believe the first one either lost place or clotted either way it had to be done. So that was that a opening pressure of 44 with a vp shunt in.. (not a good thing) So Sunday evening i was moved over to Southampton hospital were they could do future investigation. upon arriving they first thought my stomach pain could have been appendicitis so had to wait for a surgeon to come see me about that. More x-rays were done of the whole shunt and i got to see it, It looks really cool lol.
Monday i felt like shit my head hurt and felt sick as a dog so i didn't do much was back on iv fluids to get sum in me. Tuesday woken up and i'm feeling ok, sore back still from the lp but after doctors and surgeons talking to me back and forth it has been decided that we shall see how i am in 2 weeks, as they can not use the opening pressure from my lumber at Bournemouth all because i was sat up! Wish i known that!! And all so due to having had 20ml drained off my pressure might not be at its highest peek yet. So in 2 weeks am to go back see how things go and then decide if i have another lp done then to check if the shunt really is working for me.
